Travis is an Associate in the Toronto office and a member of the firm’s Cyber & Privacy Liability Group. Travis also maintains a robust defence litigation practice including class action defence, professional negligence, commercial general liability, and product liability.
Prior to joining Dolden Wallace Folick, Travis articled and practiced commercial and insurance defence litigation in the Toronto office of a prominent international firm.
CYBER & PRIVACY LIABILITY
Travis acts as incident response breach coach and external privacy counsel to organizations across various industries and sectors in relation to all manner of security and privacy breaches, including ransomware, e-mail compromise, wire fraud, social engineering, and data theft.
In the wake of a cyber incident, Travis advises clients through all phases of breach response and remediation, including restoration of data systems, retention of forensic experts, notification to affected individuals and stakeholders, and reporting to regulatory authorities. Travis also represents IT service providers and data hosts in third party liability claims arising from data loss and unauthorized access to personal information.
Having guided numerous clients through the turbulent waters of cyber attacks and privacy breaches, Travis strives to work proactively with clients in the development of effective incident response plans and privacy policies to ensure organizations are as poised and prepared as possible in the event of a crisis situation. Travis regularly presents to insurers and insured clients alike on litigation trends, regulatory changes and the evolving risk landscape in Canadian cyber and privacy liability.
CLASS ACTION DEFENCE
Travis has experience defending clients in both provincial and national class actions. Travis is currently involved in the defence of several owner-operators of long-term care homes in Ontario in relation to a number of proposed class actions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Travis defends insurance brokers, engineers, accountants, medical, paramedical and a host of other professionals against claims of negligence.
Travis acts for a diverse range of clients with unique product liability needs, including having overseen commercial product recalls spanning from home security systems to interactive children’s books.
HOSPITALITY – LIQUOR & SOCIAL AND COMMERCIAL HOST LIABILITY
Travis has acted for occupiers and all manner of third-party contractors in relation to claims involving personal injury arising from alleged breaches of the Occupiers’ Liability Act and the service of alcohol and use of force.
