Colleen O’Neill
Colleen O’Neill joined the firm in 2012 as an Associate after articling with an insurance defence firm in Vancouver. Colleen’s practice focuses on insurance defence litigation covering a wide variety of matters including personal injury, property damage, occupier’s liability and professional negligence.
Colleen’s representative work includes:
- Acting for defendants in fire losses, flood and construction deficiency claims
- Advising and acting on behalf of companies and insurers with respect to defending injury claims, including motor vehicle claims and occupier’s liability claims
- Defending dentists against allegations of professional negligence. Colleen has successfully defended professional negligence claims against dentists in multiple trials (Kumar v. Dr. Braverman et al,) and has been successful in dismissing several claims against dentists by application (Blair v. Dr. Thomson Inc. et al)
- Acting for defendants in liquor liability claims involving restaurants and bars
- Colleen recently successfully defended a denial of coverage by an insurance company in trial, on the basis of a material misrepresentation (Weber v. Family Insurance Solutions Inc. et al.)
- Acting for insurers in subrogated claims
