Partner Announcement – January 2020


We are pleased to announce the addition of five new partners in our Toronto office. These lawyers bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge in litigation and the insurance industry.

Chris Stribopoulos, Partner

Chris brings 26 years of insurance defence litigation experience to the Dolden Wallace Folick partnership. His experience includes acting as defence counsel in construction disputes, professional liability disputes, claims involving directors and officers, property claims and EPL claims. Chris also has extensive experience defending a variety of class actions.

Chris was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994 and has extensive trial experience. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario including appearing in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Chris has been involved in several presentations to our insurer clients. These presentations include claims against professionals such as architects, engineers and insurance brokers, claims relating to directors and officers, EPL claims, Human Rights claims and class action claims. Chris is pragmatic and efficient, but also strategic when handling claims. He understands the importance of each step of the litigation process while at all times keeping in mind his clients’ interests and objectives.

Chet Wydrzynski, Partner

Chet has practiced insurance defence litigation his entire career. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004. His experience includes occupiers’ liability, liquor liability, sports and recreation, professional negligence, coverage, and property. Chet is an experienced trial lawyer, having taken both jury and non-jury matters to verdict. He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario.

Insurers regularly appoint Chet as lead counsel in major personal injury matters with catastrophic injuries. He has defended hundreds of commercial entities including taverns and bars, sports facilities, winter maintenance contractors and security companies. Chet is also a member of our firm’s construction group. He defends a wide range of contractors and professionals in various construction disputes. He also acts for insurers in both first-party property and coverage disputes.

Chet often presents to insurers and other lawyers on numerous topics including commercial host liquor claims and trial strategy.

Mario Delgado, Partner

Mario’s insurance defence practice includes representing various professionals including architects, engineers, dentists, naturopaths, psychotherapists, optometrists, paralegals, and property managers in cases involving claims of alleged negligence in the performance of their professional responsibilities.

Mario has significant experience defending claims arising from all stages of the construction process including, errors and omissions in design phase, bidding and tendering process, over-certification, lien claims, fee disputes, product liability and delay claims. He has defended claims arising from all types of construction projects including the design and construction of single residential homes, townhome developments, condominiums, industrial buildings, banks, medical buildings, commercial retail buildings, educational centres, recreational buildings, sporting arenas and medical buildings.

Mario is also the current chair of our National Product Liability Group. He has defended claims relating to a wide range of products/materials and has been involved in product liability disputes involving various commercial, industrial and medical products/materials.

Mario has a passion for advocacy and for providing clients with cost effective pragmatic solutions to complex litigation claims. He regularly appears in the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court of Ontario and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Brett Stephenson, Partner

Brett is a well-rounded insurance lawyer acting on behalf of numerous prominent domestic and international insurers, including many London market clients. In 2019, Brett was seconded to several major London market underwriting firms, providing support and claims handling services to cyber and specialty lines claims teams.

Brett’s diverse practice includes providing defence and coverage services to a variety of clients. Brett has significant experience in defending professional negligence, employment practice, construction, hospitality, products liability, property, automobile, sports and recreation claims and in regulatory defence matters. Brett also acts as breach coach and privacy counsel for cyber related claims.

Recently, Brett was successful at the Ontario Court of Appeal in upholding the finding of the motion judge that Lloyd’s Underwriters had a subrogated right to enforce mortgage proceedings against the Plaintiffs. Brett’s clients were entirely successful and awarded costs.

Mouna Hanna, Partner

Mouna has significant experience handling claims involving cyber and privacy liability, professional negligence, occupiers’ liability, liquor liability, employment, human rights and sports and recreation. She currently sits on the Canadian Defence Lawyers’ Board of Directors and is an active member of the insurance defence community.

Mouna is the national co-lead of Dolden Wallace Folick’s Cyber and Privacy Liability Practice Group. She is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) designated through the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She sits on the executive committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Privacy & Access Group. Mouna routinely acts as a breach coach, privacy counsel and defence counsel to organizations across various industries and sectors involved in cyber and privacy claims and litigation. She is often invited to speak at events and conferences on latest trends in the Canadian cyber market.

Mouna also has extensive experience working with insurers to understand how cannabis legalization affects various types of insurance claims and policies. She has worked with insurers to draft and revise Canadian policy wordings related to cannabis specific products. Mouna regularly presents to and educates industry and claims professionals on the impact of cannabis legalization on social and commercial host liability, cyber and privacy issues, residential tenancies, employment and human rights, product liability and risk management strategies.
